pedanticran

Catches the CRAN policy violations R CMD check misses, using 141 rules drawn from a decade of rejection emails.

Python → ian-flores/pedanticran

Roughly a third of first-time CRAN submissions are rejected over policy issues, not code: T instead of TRUE, a title that isn’t quite Title Case, print() where CRAN wants message(), a missing \value tag on one export out of forty. R CMD check doesn’t catch any of these.

pedanticran encodes 141 CRAN rules, compiled from the 2015–2025 mailing-list rejections and paired with the verbatim rejection text, so you can fix them before a reviewer sends you the terse two-line email. It runs as a Claude Code plugin for interactive use or as a GitHub Action in CI.
